Ten things since December...

1.  Sam came back from Costa Rica.  He was tan, happy, talkative, and seemed like he'd grown 3 years in those 3 weeks.  I don't know if he told us everything, but he must have.  He talked and was so great listening to all his experiences.  God did good things for him there, and I thank Him for it.

(I have a sinking feeling that I lost pictures from those first couple days after Sam got back.  I had darling pictures and some video of the kids hanging on to every word he said.  I can't think about it too much! Wah!)

1.5  Sam and a few of the guys he played music with in high school did a show in January.  What fun that was!

2.  Our really good friends, Freddy and Johanna, decided to go back to Colombia because Freddy could not find a job here in good old Quebec.  Ale decided to stay here and continue her studies.  She needed a place to stay.  We felt God wanted us to open our home and our lives to her and swoop her up into our family.  There's a whole big story that goes with this that I need to record soon so that I don't forget it, but for now, just this...we finally have a daughter!! :)

2.5 It was so hard to see our dear friends leave.  Mya, Ale's baby sister, gave Mark a few precious, memorable moments

3. Sam turned 18!

4.  Jack has been killing it in basketball practices.  Not so much in games...but nerves, you know.  He has grown 2 inches since last May.  It might be more.  He towers over me.  I just have a couple more years til I'm the shortest member of this family (not including Ale)

5.  We've had a very cold February.  I think they say that it's been the coldest one in 115 years!  What we sadly have not had, is a lot of snow.  (It just snowed all night!)

6.  Joel got his orange belt in karate. He was so excited about it, because for him it seemed so long.  I've seen Joel excited (it's pretty much his default emotion) before, but this was on a different level.  He's quite high on having a big sister around as well.  And now she is added to his list he runs down on a regular basis when he checks with me about who is going to be here for supper.  Sunday morning he lowered his voice to a whisper and asked, "Is Aleja coming with us this morning?" and when I said yes, he said, "YES!"  Being witness to Joel's unabashed love is moving.

7.  Jack still has the best bedhead in the history of the world!

8.  Mark is dedicating himself to learn another language--Spanish!  My hat's off to him!  I don't have space in my head for another language, so I'm not joining him.  I'm not saying I couldn't be inspired as he progresses...

9.  Our new show for Sunday pizza night is Colombo.  It's dated and sometimes corny, but we have been enjoying it.  And then Netflix just removed the show!  Now what?

10.  We found a new fun, free place for winter fun.  Sunday afternoon we went with Lina, Diego, German, and Jenny to Duschenay.  It was a hearteningly mild day and that fact combined with a lot of laughing that we did, was the perfect antidote for the winter blues.

Happy March!
