Happy New Year!
The kids went back to school today. Yesterday was hard because Mark was sick with the flu and Sam left for part of the day to spend it with Madeleine (much to Joel's dismay). J and J just kept looking at me with sad puppy-dog faces and saying things like, "It's almost over." and "School starts tomorrow." I guess it's really just an indication of what a great time they had.
They traded football cards, played Joel's new table-top pool game, listened to a sermon with me, folded clothes, listened to AIO and did a Wii workout. It was low-key and, to me, the perfect transition from packed-with-fun days with friends and family back home and getting back to the daily routine.
But this morning, no one whined. No one grumbled about school or the end of vacation. Sam even played a game of pool with Joel before Joel had to leave for the bus. They even seemed happy. Mark is still not feeling well, but I'm sure he'll be back on his feet very soon.
And so here we are. A new fresh year. I'm rarin' to go!
