Happiest of birthdays to our new teenager!
Celebrating him and his presence in our lives was a great joy to me today.

Jack is an old soul, filled with compassion and sensitivity.
He makes me want to be a better world citizen.
His smile lights up the room and my heart.
I love this redheaded boy!

Without a functioning stove, I found making his requested fajitas on the pancake griddle a little bit of a challenge.  But that was part of the fun and of the memories we made this night.
We also played our family quote game which is always good for at least 20 guffaws per game.

Then Grandma and Grandpa Ernst called and we Skyped with the Dayton Ernsts.
Uncle Tim and Aunt Barb and Matt came over to serenade Jack with "Teenager"
and stayed for a bit to wish him a happy day.

And then before the kids went to bed, our family joined hands in prayer and each person asked God for special things for Jack this year:  wisdom, good friends, basketball skills, a deep trust for God, and a confidence in His love.
