Day 6: Hampton and Virginia Beach

Mark found a little 3-hour cruise/tour which covers the Hampton Roads Harbor, Chesapeake Bay and Norfolk Naval Base. A special feature of the tour was a 30-minute stop at the Civil war Island of Fort Wool. We thought everyone would enjoy that, so we went.  We all loved Dave, our tour-guide, who was (a little) funny and very engaging.  He told us early in the cruise that he had 3 reasons for everything...and that was about right, thus the 3-themed collage from that cruise.

When we got off the boat for the visit to Fort Wool, Dave told us several times very clearly that we were not to climb anything!  He said that even though he tells all the groups that, every day he has to chase someone down that has not understood those instructions or just chosen to disregard them.  Sure enough, a lady in a our group climbed these stairs.  Dave even pointed her out to a couple of us before he went running after her.  DUH!

This little boy had had quite enough of the tour, I guess. I saw him sitting there under the tree and couldn't resist!

After the cruise, we went back to the hotel for lunch.  There was laundry that needed to be done, so I found a laundromat and did a couple loads.  I met back up with the family and we went back to Virginia Beach for a couple hours.
Supper was the same buffet as the day before, but the enthusiasm for it had lessened.  Either that, or no one was as hungry.

End of Day 6!
