And the hits just keep on comin'!

I've had pretty bad automobile luck as of late.  I wrote already about getting towed two weeks ago.  (Oh, I'm still a little chagrined about that!)

If that wasn't bad enough to begin the year with, I had an accident on Monday night coming back home from dropping Sam off for his basketball practice.  I'm really embarrassed to even mention this, but hey, I'm trying to be real and not just share the beauty of my days.

So, what happened was that Joel and I were just tootling along and BAM we hear this terrible thud.  What in the world, I said to Joel.  We stopped, got out and looked at the ugly black mark that was decorating our new-ish van.  I didn't even realize what I had done!  So we made a circle and came back to the only parked car on that side of the street. Yeah, I just hit this car that was parked, minding it's own business.  I was close enough to hit the side mirror of that car and scratch pretty much the whole length of the passenger's side of ours.

So when I saw that I'd smashed up the mirror quite well, I hustled Joel back in the van and took off as fast as I could!  No, that's not what I did, silly!  I learned some French that I'd never had the chance to use because I'd never side-swiped a parked car before. And we worked out the details (and read the "rules" for reporting accidents on our insurance papers) with the disappointed owners (also immigrants) of the car.  I still don't know how it happened.  I wasn't talking on my phone or fiddling with the radio or doing any of the zillion other little things I sometimes do while I'm driving.  I'll tell you, I felt pretty stupid explaining to the insurance girl.

But wait, I'm not done yet.

Wednesday night, driving alone this time, thankfully, I spun out on icy snow at a stoplight not far from our home and flipped our Ford Explorer.  I got away safely, but the vehicle was totaled.  No one came to my rescue.  There was one other lady around, but she was looking for her shoe and could not have cared less about my troubles.  I was wondering how I was going to explain a 3rd big car headache and expense to Mark when...

I woke up!

I think maybe I'm a little traumatized.
