the *joy* alert: december 14

Today Part 1: I spent a good part of the afternoon with my dear, sweet friend, Noëlla. She and her husband are a tad older than my parents. Today we were trying to figure out how long we've been friends, and we came up with about 9 years! She made a most delicious lunch, and then we put up her Christmas tree.
Jean-Yves (who sat mostly like this today) and Noëlla
Today Part 2:  The boys and I picked up Sam from school and for a surprise, I took them all to Crackpot (a place to paint your own ceramic pieces) to make Christmas presents.  We were there about an hour and a half and everyone was hungry.  Sam wasn't even close to being done with his piece, so we left to go eat,  and then ran home.  The little ones got ready for bed, Mark came home from class, and Sam and I left again so he could finish his artwork.  I  edited photos while Sam painted and painted and painted.  We pretty much closed the place down.
So careful with his project!                                             And how to stay awake at 9:37
Update JOYce:  Mark's mom came through the quadruple (yes) bypass well.  We haven't talked with her yet.  Hopefully, by tomorrow she'll feel up to a little chat.  It was a rough day for Mark, not being there for something so important!

*Joy* Alert: Spending time with an older generation + creating with kids+successful heart surgery=JOY!

This month, I am joining my friend,Sarah Jane, in writing daily about things that bring joy during this lovely, peaceful holiday season.
joy in the season
I saw a GAP ad the other day that I shamelessly "borrowed" for my titles this coming month. Ironically, if I can stay out of the GAP and other such places, I will most definitely be more alert to what brings REAL, lasting joy.
