the *joy* alert: december 9

Sam had a basketball game at 8:00 tonight.  When he has a game that late on a school night, it's just Mark who goes to the game so that I can get the kids in bed at a decent time.  This time though, being that the game was on a Friday, we all went.  Well, that's not entirely true.  We missed out on Mark's company because he has a church Planning and Reflection retreat this weekend.
tired, but faithful
Oh, my sweet Jack loves to support his big brother!
the boys and I had some laughs about this guy and his beat-up frying pan he used to make noise
the game wasn't all that exciting, as you can see, but a win for Rochebelle is always nice!
one of Sam's friends, Jerôme, played his harmonica throughout the game, amusing and annoying!

Sam is #8.  (I apologize, Kid, for this clip) Right after I turned off the camera, he shot a 3-pointer.  Isn't that how it is?

*Joy* Alert: It is a joy to be there for each other, to cheer each other on at ballgames and in life!

This month, I am joining my friend,Sarah Jane, in writing daily about things that bring joy during this lovely, peaceful holiday season.
joy in the season
I saw a GAP ad the other day that I shamelessly "borrowed" for my titles this coming month. Ironically, if I can stay out of the GAP and other such places, I will most definitely be more alert to what brings REAL, lasting joy.

Interrupting the *joy* alert series... share some news.  Mark got a distraught call from his little brother late Wednesday night.  Their mom, JOYce, was experiencing chest pains and did not want to go get it checked out.  Mark called her and, after some urging, finally persuaded her to let Jeff take her to the ER.

The outcome?  She'll have open heart surgery on Monday.  The doctor said she came in for help none too soon!
