the *joy* alert: december 5

One of my most favorite times is when I get to read to the kids before bedtime. Reading time usually includes silly talk, maybe some tickling, laughter, reflections on the day, and of course, reading!  I'm reading through the Chronicles of Narnia with J and J (currently on The Magician's Nephew) when Sam can't be there with us. I'm reading this series for the fourth time (once as a kid, once to Sam, once to Jack and Sam together, and now with Jack and Joel) and I'm moved and thrilled and touched and amused every time.

*Joy* Alert:  I'm so glad for delicious books and good stories and words!

This month, I am joining my friend,Sarah Jane, in writing daily about things that bring joy during this lovely, peaceful holiday season.

I saw a GAP ad the other day that I shamelessly "borrowed" for my titles this coming month. Ironically, if I can stay out of the GAP and other such places, I will most definitely be more alert to what brings REAL, lasting joy.

the *joy* alert: december 4

Baby Alexandre sings during worship time at our Sunday morning gathering. Sometimes I can't handle it. It's joy-inducing, for sure.
Today I video-taped him.  He was going to town, and when I turned on the camera, he didn't have as much fervor. You know how that is! Watching this week's worship team lead us was probably just as inspiring!  (bébé's parents are in the center and far right. Friend, Gabrielle, is on the left)  sorry for the quality of this, especially at the end.

Then at night, our dear friends, Shane and Chantale, came for supper.  We love our deep and meaningful discussions we always have with these two.
And then we attempted to build a gingerbread house.  Chantale and Joel managed to get a little "forest" together, including a couple snowmen and a bench. The actual house, however, presented some difficulties and it did not come together.  We have hope, though, with a little brainstorming and some trial and error, we will be able to get the thing built.

*Joy* Alert:  Singing (specifically baby singing) is good for the soul.  And so is sharing food and words and experiences with friends.
