the *joy* alert: december 3

Mark is doing final tweaks on his message for tomorrow morning.  Three boys are in bed.  And here I sit alone in the living room with my coffee, listening to Mindy Smith sing Come Around.  I have one more job (a little power point presentation for our church's gathering tomorrow) to do tonight before I turn in, and I need some inspiration to do it.  I'm hoping that it will come to me soon, because I'm wiped out.
Today we got a lot accomplished.  Mark had a very productive and encouraging planning meeting with 6 or 7 guys from church early this morning.  The boys got all their Saturday morning chores finished before lunch.  I tackled a paper-sorting project that was way over-due (and found some stuff I'd lost!).  Sam did homework all afternoon.  Jack printed off some Christmas songs for our family worship notebooks.  Joel ran around the house for me, putting this and that in the places where they live.

We did have some fun tonight (pizza, Andy Griffith, a sketching time in which everyone drew a snowman ornament in his sketchbook, a game of Memory, a spontaneous, hilarious 5-minute family dance, a Christmas carol sing, and a reading from this e-book.)

But today was mostly just hard work.  And I, for one, am going to bed tonight with that good, tired feeling, knowing that we got stuff done.  And it shows.  THAT, I like.

*Joy* Alert:  Working hard and accomplishing things together is a joyful experience.

This month, I am joining my friend,Sarah Jane, in writing daily about things that bring joy during this lovely, peaceful holiday season.
joy in the season
I saw a GAP ad the other day that I shamelessly "borrowed" for my titles this coming month. Ironically, if I can stay out of the GAP and other such places, I will most definitely be more alert to what brings REAL, lasting joy.
