About back-to-school: School supplies were purchased today. Joel is super excited. He hasn’t stopped talking about his backpack and even went to bed with it tonight. School starts on Wednesday. Can’t believe how fast the summer flew by, but I think I say that every year. I checked and yep, I sure do!
About friends: I miss mine that are far away. But I’m thankful for all the recent support that has been given to me in the form of comments on this blog, emails, and phone calls regarding my mom’s health.
About how I spent my 48 hours alone: While Mark was on a camping trip with the boys, I had a little personal retreat. I just stayed home, but my plan for my time was to spend it in reflection. Tuesday was an absolutely gorgeous day. I spent nearly all of it outside, down at the St. Lawrence (5 min. from our home) in silence (I might have talked to myself and maybe I sang once) and solitude. I did a lot of thinking and wrote out some personal goals. I couldn’t have had a better day.
About our good mail day: It’s rare that we get something fun in the mail. If we get anything in our mailbox, it’s usually just a bill or an ad. Today, though, we got a great newsy postcard from friends on vacation, a note from my stepmother-in-law, 3 Conspire magazines (yay!), and a game that Jack ordered.
About our fun evening: We spent it bowling and sharing supper with a dear friend and her (and her husband’s) two new foster kids. Our kids were slow in warming up to them, but by the end of the night, they had a hard time tearing themselves away. We were blessed by having spent time with them.
And I guess I’ll just keep the rest of my thoughts to myself. :)
