Yesterday and Today

Yesterday:
It was an absolutely beautiful day.  I don't know what the temperature was, but the sun was shining.  And it felt fabulous to take a walk and breathe deep and drink it all in.  And I think all my neighbors decided to take advantage of the day too.  I don't know when I've seen so many people outside in January.

Today:

The world was covered in a thick layer of ice.  The bus didn't come to get Jack so Mark walked him to school.  He said Jack fell four or five times in the half-mile walk on the slick sidewalks.  And I cancelled my dentist appointment so I wouldn't have to take a chance out there on the ice rink and so I wouldn't have to get a shot and hear the sound of that drill in my ears.

Yesterday:
I watched football.  And I watched my nervous husband make (with dry mouth) funny comments early on in the game about what was going/not going to happen.  And I watched my two bigger boys get nervous just like their dad.  And I watched  the little boy dress up in his football pads and hand-me-down Colts jersy and run 42 times across the family room to the couch making touchdown after touchdown. And then I watched the Colts beat the Jets. And I watched my boys relax!

Today:
I watched Jack grab the newspaper from the mailbox before breakfast so he could see who the Colts will be playing in the Super Bowl.  And I noticed how many members of the family thought it important to don some article of Colts clothing this morning.  And I smiled when I saw this clever headline in the Indy Star.  And I'm happy that my boys are happy!
