What makes you laugh?

"Laughter is the shock absorber that eases the blows of life."

The stuff I've been laughing about lately...

:: The other day as I was enjoying my new vacuum (yep, still fascinated, still obsessed with it's powerful ablity to consume the dust, fuzz, and other undesirables from our home) I remembered this video that our dear friends, Shawn and Simone, sent us awhile back. It's so funny to me, but I don't really relate. Maybe I've gotten practical in my old age--a gym membership or a dual-bagged vacuum for Christmas would make me VERY happy.

"What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul."

:: For a few days now the kids have been saying to each other, "Where's the pole?" and then bursting into laughter. I finally found out today what it was all about when they showed me this youtube video. I can see what they found so funny, but to tell you the truth, the part that amuses me the most is at 16 seconds-30 seconds mark. I love this girl!!!

"Seven days without laughter makes one weak."

:: For sure, I'm a big This American Life fan. I'm still chuckling about the first 8 minutes of this episode. Oh, it is delightful!

:: Maybe I'm sick, but I like a good comeback. I (most likely) would never actually rip someone apart with these put-downs, but when I hear a well-crafted knock, it just tickles my funny bone. Here's one we chuckled at from the book I'm reading to the kids right now. When told by his captors that he will be tossed into the harbor if he doesn't cooperate, a man named Milligan says, "Well, I'm sure I would infinitely prefer that fate to the smell of your breath." HA HA! On our trip home from Indiana a couple weeks ago, I read A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson to Mark and the kids (the boys listened when it was interesting which was only about 50% of the time). Mr. Bryson and his friend decide to hike the Appalachian Trail. They meet up with an irritating know-it-all kind of woman early on in the adventure. She asks them how many miles they had done that day. When they tell her ten, she says, "Ten miles? Is that all? You guys must be like really out of shape. I did fourteen-two." And then Bryson's friend quips, "How many have your lips done?" So funny to me!!

"A merry heart does good like medicine." Proverbs 17:22

:: Okay, one more Youtube video. I found this a couple years ago when I was planning a baby shower for a friend. I think it is so sweet and very entertaining.

What's cracking you up these day??
