The next stop after Mansfield, OH was Dayton where my brother, Dan and his family live. Dan was on a missions trip with his youth group, but we enjoyed the company of Gwen and the kids, as usual. Claire was entertaining me Friday morning while I was drying my hair. Isn't she the sweetest thing??
Sam sure thinks she is. I did NOT have to ask him to read to his baby cousin here.
We drove that next day then to where my parents are staying so that we could spend a couple of hours with them before another trip (this time to Illinois). It had been 3 years since we had last seen them, but the kids warmed up very quickly--almost as if they had just seen them the week before. I know it's because of those tapes they send them. They really know them (not just their voices, but their personalities too) because of those very special tapes.
Grandma read to the boys after supper, and Grandpa operated on Jack (a splinter!). And then we drove (in an amazing and powerful thunderstorm) to our dear and gracious friends', the Tooleys, where we will stay for the summer.
