Little get-a-way

Friday the kids had a day off from school (teacher's workday, I think) so we planned a night/day away with our colleagues to this sweet "little" log cabin. What a beautiful place it is! And what a nice time we had.
Here it is in the spring. We had another retreat at this place in May
taken by Sam with birthday present--Nikon Coolpix

And this is how it looked on February 15th.

We celebrated Sam's birthday with a pancake breakfast (thanks to Mark), and much to his amusement sang the "Happy Birthday" song to him maybe 8 times during the day.
There was Valentine's Day cookie decorating.
Some playing out in the snow by the kids and me. All those tracks are waist-deep. It was a great workout, and probably more getting stuck than actual movement. Where were the snow shoes the owner told us we could use??
We sat by a roaring fire, played games, talked, and ate! The adults watch The Painted Veil. This HAS to be one of the BEST movies Mark and I have ever seen. I can't say enough good things about it. All I can say is, if you haven't seen this movie, "Rent it SOON!"
