This PNG girl just can't seem to get the hang of living in snow country. We had our first real snow of the season today. I had no idea that snow was in the forecast, and even though I had had enough foresight to unpack all of our winter gear, to take inventory, and to procure what was lacking, I didn't have my guys well prepared today when they ran off to school. It wasn't 20 minutes after they left that it started snowing and Mark announced that they were predicting 10 centimeters during the day.
Jack wasn't too happy when he came home at lunch, explaining that he had had to spend recess in the school office reading a book because he wasn't properly dressed with boots and snowpants to go out and play. When he told the teacher that his mom didn't know it was going to snow, she told him, "There are ways for your mom to know what the weather will be like for the day." Well! Sometimes there are more important things to do in the morning than check the weather!
Now that we've had the first snow, and it looks like it's supposed to snow the rest of the week (I acted like a responsible mom and checked the weather tonight), I guess it won't be a problem for Jack to remember his snowpants. The white stuff will be around until May now.
